SENATE SUPPORTS STANDARD ORGANISATION TO DRIVE GROWTH
The senate committee on industries says it will support the Standard Organizations of Nigeria (SON) to drive the nation’s manufacturing sector to grow the economy.
The Chairman, Senate Committee on Industries, Senator Bayo Osinowo stated this during an oversight function at SON’s laboratory complex in Ogba, Lagos.
The senator said that SON was vital for the manufacturing sector to compete with its global counterparts across the globe expressed displeasure over the absence of SON at the port.
A member of the committee, Sen. Peter Nwaobosh, said the committee was not impressed that SON was not at the point of entry where goods were being brought into the country.
In response, the Director-General SON, Osita Aboloma said that the oversight committee was to give the senate committee first-hand information about the level of progress made so far by SON in the wake of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
