PRESIDENT BUHARI PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY
President Buhari at the flag of the Argungun fishing festival pledged to support the Nigerian automobile industry in producing locally manufactured and assembled vehicles, which has capacity to generate billions of dollars annually for the country.
The president disclosed this at the flag-off this year’s Argungu Festival Automobile Rally in Abuja.
President Buhari, represented by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Muhammed said the introduction of the use of local content in this year’s festival explained the government’s priority on Made-in-Nigeria goods and products.
He explained that all vehicles for the rally were locally assembled in Nigeria, which was part of efforts to boost and display Nigeria’s automotive industry.
Meanwhile, the Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Jelani Aliyu assured that the council would work with relevant stakeholders to develop Nigeria’s automotive industry to meet international best practices.
