NIGERIA MAY NOT MEET SDG 6 TARGET ON WATER AND SANITATION BY 2030…. FG

With Forty-Seven million people still practicing open defecation, the Federal Government is worried Nigeria may not meet the SDG 6 target of Water and Sanitation for all by 2030.

At the National dissemination workshop on context analysis study of urban sanitation recently, Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu said the numbers of people without access to water and sanitation services are alarming.

His counterpart in the Ministry of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire, explained that sanitation and hygiene practices improve the quality of human life, hence the need for Nigeria to be proactive.

WaterAid as part of its commitment to supporting cities to improve access to safely managed sanitation services, commissioned Mangrove and partners to conduct a context analysis of urban sanitation in Kano, Enugu, and Warri.

With the survey, the Nigeria government can plan with the data to improve water and hygiene practices.
