FEDERAL GOVERNMENT UNVEILS NIGERIAN PRODUCED AND ASSEMBLED MOTOR VEHICLES .
The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment in collaboration with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), unveiled the Nigerian Produced/Assembled Motor Vehicles in Abuja.
Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Otunba Richard Adebayo at the unveiling said the vehicles would also later be used for the 2020 Argungun motor rally to be flagged off by President Buhari at the eagle square.
Adebayo noted that the festival would also serve as a way to diversify and develop the non-oil sector of the economy.
Also speaking at the unveiling, the CEO National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, Jelani Aliyu, said Nigeria spends about 8 billion dollars every year to bring in about 300-400 thousand vehicles into the country.
Jelani then highlighted why they were implementing the National Automobile Industrial Development Plan, NAIDP, and gave the 5 cardinal elements which the platform would cover.
He also said that the NADDC is proposing a set of fiscal incentives to discourage the importation of motor parts and encourage local production.
