AUDITOR GENERALS’ OFFICE PARTNERS TO STRENGTHEN FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION.
The office of the Auditor General of the Federation has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, in Abuja.
The Auditor General of the Federation, Anthony Mkpe Ayine in his address said that the significance of his partnership with the ICPC was to strengthen accountability and fight corruption in the country.
Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, Bolaji Owasanoye in his remarks said the aim of the partnership with the office of the Auditor General of the Federation is to formalize the relationship that has been incubating for some months in order to fight corruption that has set Nigeria back.
Owasanoye further stated that it will be strategic to collaborate with the office of the Auditor General of the Federation in order to do more with less.
Owasanoye, however, stated some key factors, which ICPC is empowered to do by law to include; enforcing laws against corruption thorough investigation and prosecution, to take preventive measures by doing system studies and reviews and to solicit and engage the public in order to fight against corruption
